Board-Head Relations
We can help you build a strong, transparent and supportive relationship with your board leadership.
VisM recommends that every independent school should have a board committee called "The Head's Support and Evaluation Committee" (HSEC). This committee is made up of 5 to 7 board leaders. The board chair should be on the committee, but not be the chair of this committee. The HSEC leads the annual evaluation process of the head, works with the head to help her/him set annual goals and action plans. The HSEC should meet at least quarterly with the head. A key agenda item for these quarterly meetings is always a check on how the head is progressing with annual goals.

By keeping the board leaders appraised of what has been done, what is being done, what will be done and what cannot be done is great for board-head transparency.
